I am Juanetta Shavonne, and I desire to be a messenger of hope. 

 For a long time, I had my own perception of what I thought success was. I developed my own definition of accomplishment and what that looked like from my perspective. I left my hometown with aspirations and goals that I in no way thought could not be achieved- until they weren’t. I felt led to share a piece of my testimony based on the realization that the detours, delays, and disappointments were shaping me for something that seemed so small, yet so significant, I kept missing it. I had to change my mindset. While I actually do believe in the concept of the American dream, I also believe we can spend so much time dreaming that we lose hope of our God-given visions. There is nothing wrong with being successful or having the assets you desire. What truly matters is the foundation you choose to build it on and the heart and mindset you adopt to obtain it. So, my book is not a step-by-step blueprint for every struggle, sorrow, or season of suffering; it’s a reminder that life is about more than what we planned for it to be. It all begins with perspective, where transformation begins. And that changes everything.
